Running the Room, 30–50 Times a Year
Supporting a high-volume calendar of recruitment and outreach events at the University of Bristol, including a three-day online Summer School.
As Postgraduate Student Ambassador, I supported the Postgraduate Student Recruitment and Admissions Team’s events calendar, helping with student recruitment and widening participation through a wide range of online and in-person events and activities aimed at inspiring prospective postgraduate students to apply to Bristol.

I supported the running of between 30 and 50 online and in-person events across two years, spanning webinars, masterclasses, live text chats, Zoom breakout rooms, Open Days and campus tours. I led campus tours as one of Bristol’s postgraduate tour guides, ran structured one-to-one and group discussions with prospective students and took part in live chat sessions, responding to prospective student queries in real time.
The standout project was a three-day online Summer School for Year 12 students. I facilitated multiple online sessions, delivered presentations, hosted activities and supported Q&A panels throughout the programme, covering academic talks, accommodation, careers, funding and financial advice, the Student Union and societies, personal statement guidance and higher education choices.
I adapted sessions in real time to meet the needs of students with different knowledge and confidence levels — including shifting from lecture-style delivery to informal discussion to help students engage more comfortably with complex topics such as student finance. I also used visual aids and personal examples to explain scholarship eligibility, application deadlines and funding options for students from different regions, including Wales.
